There’s something primal about sinking your teeth into a juicy, grilled-to-perfection steak. LA may not be known as a hot spot destination for a good slab of meat, but maybe it ought to be. One of the best-kept secrets about the city is that it is home to some of the most hands-down delicious steakhouses that the country has to offer.
Whether you’re new to the area or just want to revamp your list of favorites, you HAVE to check out these fine establishments. Trust me when I say, you won’t walk away hungry!
Let’s kick this off with a steakhouse that got its start in LA. Situated in Beverly Hills, this location is one of the most sought-after dining experiences in the US, and has become a bit of a chain, with five other locations opening up around the world. This place does it right, with its upscale, swanky atmosphere and only the absolute best cuts of meat. This is the place you go to if you want to impress your dinner guests–the most expensive cut available is almost $200! Everything is perfection from the plate in front of you, to the art on the wall. Cut is more than a steakhouse; it’s an experience.
Modern and chic, Bourbon Steak doesn’t disappoint. Everything about this place is high end, but patrons rave about the incredible happy hour menu that includes quality food and drink options. This place is dedicated to doing more than just serving up a delicious steak (although you’ll certainly get that), as it offers an ambiance with beautiful décor and friendly staff as well. Highly recommended.
Baltaire has strategically positioned itself as the only steakhouse in Brentwood. Leather, marble, and mid-century furniture set the stage for the most ideal location to get your eat on. Not only can you enjoy a prime cut of meat, but there’s also a wide selection of cocktails to choose from. Not a fan of eating indoors? An inviting patio is also available to enjoy the gorgeous weather.
If you’re all about luxury, then you have to check out Arroyo Chop House, located in Pasadena. They serve up the best classic cuts of meat, cocktails, and seafood. You’ll love the classy setting, and it makes for the perfect spot to share with that special someone in your life. The steaks have certainly made a name for themselves, but take note that the side dishes are also on point.
Mastro’s is located in Beverly Hills, and it caters to some of the most prestigious clientele in the city. The staff is fully trained to be at your every whim, and the prices of this place certainly reflect its upscale atmosphere. Portion sizes are more than satisfying, and guests rave about the piano bar located upstairs.
If you adore the golden age, then you will fall in love with the vintage experience you get when you visit Musso & Frank Grill. The establishment has been around for quite some time- even since before the iconic Hollywood sign was built! When dining in, you should expect a classic menu that hasn’t changed much in 100 years, but still satisfies patrons like no other. Stepping through the doors is like walking out of a time machine.
Swanky and sophisticated, BOA restaurant never disappoints. Here you should expect to receive quality cuts of meat that are grilled to your exact preferences. The atmosphere is buzzing and full of character, and attracts some of the biggest names in the area. While the steaks are everything, patrons note that the seafood selection is also nothing short of spectacular.
Damon’s offers a little bit of a different vibe than many of the other options in the area. You still get delicious cuts of prime steak, and there is also a tiki bar. The décor is Polynesian, and the atmosphere is quiet and private. Patrons do warn about limited parking, but the short walk is well worth the amazing menu.
9. Ocean Prime
Ocean Prime is located in the heart of Beverly Hills. It’s still a relatively new spot, but has quickly made a name for itself among locals and tourists. Many people report that they devoured the best steak of their life while sitting outside on the patio enjoying the ambiance of the fire pits. The menu is diverse, so there’s a little something for everyone at this excellent hotspot.
10. Riordan’s Tavern
If you’re looking for something a little more affordable, then Riordan’s Tavern is worth a second look. The menu is pretty small, but the steaks are HUGE. There’s also a daily Carvery special where a chosen meat is slow roasted and served over artisan bread. It’s more of a laid-back atmosphere, and perfect for meeting up with friends after work.
Nick and Stef’s offers premium steaks in a luxurious setting. The staff is prompt and attentive, so you’re sure to be taken care of for the entirety of your stay. The outside terrace is certainly an attractive feature, and patrons absolutely love the drink and dessert menu. Be sure to check out the dry-aged meat that is actually aged on-site inside the impressive meat locker.
As you can see, LA is no slouch when it comes to slabs of meat that’ll make your mouth water. The biggest question to ask isn’t whether you can find a great steak in LA, it’s which one to try first.
