Most of the world is aware of why Kim Kardashian originally became famous. And now, because of that one tape leak, here we are years later with her whole family firmly in the limelight. In all fairness, they kinda/sorta took the world by storm on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and now have some of the heaviest bank accounts in Hollywood. With all that being said, why are the ladies so unpopular? Is it jealousy? Resentment? Or is there more to it.
1. Their Talents Are errr… Limited
The Kardashians are famous for being famous. They don’t sing or act, or have a true talent they can stand by. They make millions of dollars basically for being famous, and working their brand. Maybe that in itself is a talent?
2. Nothing New
If you’ve seen or heard anything about the Kardashians, you know they like to share scantily clad photos of themselves. And yes, people seem to enjoy the view. However, the oversharing and lack of clothing definitely rubs some people the wrong way, especially those who believe in the empowerment of women, and any degree of the feminist movement.
3. Kanye’s Part of The Package
Ever since Kanye West stole the VMA spotlight from Taylor Swift, he’s been public enemy numero uno in the eyes of many. It’s hard to deny his musical brilliance, but the guy’s just not very likable.
4. Their Social Media Ads Are A Tad Intrusive
This is where jealousy and anger intersect a little. The Kardashians have built up quite a following on social media, and because of that, companies pay them to share products with their followers. Disingenuous? Perhaps. Lucrative? No doubt.
5. Women Dis-Empowerment
In the year 2018, women have redefined what it means to be the “fairer sex”. Enough is enough, time’s up, and women want to feel empowered. A lot of what The Kardashians represent is, in the eyes of many, a step back for that movement.
Keeping Up With the Kardashians debuted in 2007. Season 15 of the show begins airing in August on the E! Network. That’s a helluva run- but a long time to have any television show on the air. It’s a little old to most people by now, especially when you factor in the family’s social media presence.
7. Their Obsessed (and Perhaps Annoying?) Fans
Kylie Jenner will soon be the youngest person to become a “self-made” billionaire. Her net worth is $900 million, which is beyond amazing. At $100 million shy of the big B, Jenner’s fans decided to set up GoFundMe pages to help push her over the edge. Seriously?
8. They Act As Mirrors For Our Own Insecurities
This one may come as a shock to some people, but maybe they aren’t popular because of how we feel about ourselves? Many of us look at the Kardashians, and think to ourselves ‘boy, are they annoying.’ But in reality, how much of their shenanigans do we emulate, condone, and take part in ourselves? It’s like that old expression- it takes one to know one.
